“Hey, I am around your area for a long weekend. Fancy finally meeting?” Since our blog post about flying in Austria roughly a year ago Petra from www.hingeflogen.com and we have stayed in touch, exchanging flying stories and experiences. Now it was finally time to meet in person. And what better place could there be than hangar 7 near the airport of Salzburg, home of the Flying Bull fleet? You never know what to expect when visiting this collection of planes, helicopters, cars as some exhibits might just be “on the road” – but we have been lucky with lots of the goodies being there.
While one of the hangars is open to public the second one is used for maintenance. And surely there is always something to do with this wide range of specialities fixed and cleaned to perfect sparkle! We enjoyed the stroll and finished with a lovely cuppa in the restaurant watching the show below and chatting a bit more about our fascination with flying, our plans, dreams and ideas. So even if my planned Katana flying in the mountains did not go through due to weather during my visit (stays on the bucket list though), it still became a flight related visit with lots of new things to see and learn. And surely, the chicks and Petra will stay in touch….invitation to Petra’s home club in Salzburg to come and visit us in Rotterdam has been issued and who knows….she might even joining us to one of our next upcoming trips to South Africa!
Conclusion: flying friendships cannot only be established in the air – joined enthusiasm as well as openess and spontaneity do the trick as well!
Expect the unexpected when visiting Hangar 7 and enjoy the different exhibits to be seen at all times. You missed something during your visit? Well, then just go again and hope it will be there next time…it will be always worth it!
