Lindbergh – The tale of a flying mouse by Torben Kuhlmann
Did you ever wonder who gave Charles Lindbergh the idea of flying? Read this book and you will know!
Many years ago a little, well educated mouse misses her friends who have all escaped to America from a scary new invention called mouse trap. Following them by boat is not an option as all Trans Atlantic boats are watched by cats waiting for mice. Contemplating on solutions for her dillema in a hiding place the little mouse is sees bats for the 1st time: animals looking so similar, but moving around in the air. Might flying be the way to reach her friends? The little mouse sets out to try. Follow her on the long route of trial and error to build the perfect flying machine, to escape hungry owls and to find out if she finally reaches the blessed country.
The book is a wonderful story of invention, adventure spirit and dedication to never give up but overcome obstacles along the way. The illustrations by the author are wonderfully sweet and detailed and as such already worth purchasing the book.
Maybe “Lindbergh” was intended to be for children – but it is a joy to read and laugh about it when grown up as well. For me definitely a perfect gift for my nieces and nephews as well as my flying friends making them forget their age for as long as the reading lasts….
