North to the Orient by Anne Morrow Lindbergh & Charles Augustus Lindberg
Without doubt Chales Lindbergh can be seen as one fo the big flying pioneers. But dud you know that his wife is as mad as he was? Fun to read about their adventures when travelling together to the orient, taking the Northern route along the shores of the Arctic Sea.
Anne describes flying challenges as well as landscape and people, but also her personal feelings and worries during their journey which was undoubtedly not as comfortable as travelling is today. Her dedication and support to Chalres in all he does are touching and endearing, as her trust in him and his flying skills maker her overcome her own worries.
Additional asset: their old maps are printed as illustration as well – giving the word ‘navigation’ a new meaning for sure.
